Context

Why did Portuguese hotel collection need this?

A collection of three very different houses and the brand above them needed four websites on one platform, without any of them looking reskinned. Before a single site could be built, the collection had to agree on what the system is.

Product

What did we build?

A bilingual concept site with two doors. The path walks through the brief, the starting point, the idea and six design decisions, each with its analysis and linked sources beside it. The foundations set colour, typography, space, motion, photography and voice. Behind it sits a versioned design-system package with 22 components, 20 blocks, 11 patterns and 15 templates.

Experience

What is it like to use?

Each decision reads as one screen with its reasoning and sources beside it, so the client approves every choice with the evidence in view. All the houses preview in the same components, which shows they can differ while sharing one system.

Engineering

How is it built?

The package ships through a private registry with versioned releases and a consumer smoke test on every change. Design tokens export to a committed set that CI checks byte for byte, so design and code stay in step. Accessibility targets WCAG 2.2 AA with automated tests on two browser engines, and the font payload was cut from 266 KB to 88 KB.

Outcome

What changed?

The concept was approved in September 2026 and the design system is built. The four sites come next, all from the same system.
